Cate and I went to Seattle last week thanks to her job which allowed us to have a nice little vacation in the NW. While she had to work (the actual purpose of the trip) I took a walk around Seattle and stumble across a carnival that had been closed down. It was very freaky since it was right next to the Science Fiction Museum.

Let's try that again, here is Life Magazine's photograph back from the 1950's titled "Baseball Dog". Why dogs were allowed in showers is an open question. Why photographers were allowed is a mystery for the ages.

El Truckito - Part 3 (?) (I can't remember)

It's been a long while since I posted pictures of El Truckito and we have made some amazing progress over that time. Where to begin... we glued clear and colored glass gems around the tiles we put on El Truckito a while back, then we put on some religious medallions, followed by some old beer bottle top magnets we made(minus the magnets - I don't know what else to call them - check the pics) and finally we began to put more gems around the entire truck bed and more tiles on top of the truck bed.

Perhaps it's not the clearest explanation ever, but that is why we have cameras!

We began to decorate the truck tonight, Cate found these fantastic tiles today and we glued them all around the truck. We started to put glass marbles around the tiles but didn’t get to far with that part of the project tonight. Stay tuned!

Cate and I just bought an awesome 86 GMC truck (Cate is telling me to call it a Chevy, due to the engine) (she actually calls it Pepita) from a young man in south SA today. He kept it in great condition and the truck has all sorts of cool features.

Web Spinner in Steve's Garden

We have a garden in the yard that we recently named Steve's garden. It got this name after we placed what appears to be a tranny mermaid with a mirror in his/her center in one of our gardens and decided that it should be called Steve's garden from that point on. Neither of us know a tranny (or a mermaid) named Steve, it just seemed like the right name for her/him.

Kansas City Skools

I grew up on the Kansas side of Kansas City and went to what were supposed to be some of the best public schools in country at the time, the Shawnee Mission school district. Just a few miles away across the border in Missouri they have some of the worst school you can find anywhere. They have been crappy for years, and due to the school board being run people who care about their personal interests above all else, it will be crap for years to come. Which is really too bad, because it holds KCMO back and many people that would consider living there go to the suburbs instead.

It's true of many cities I am sure, to some degree. But it seems to be worse in KC. The reason I am ranting on about this is I happened to come across an article about how they are closing 13 more of these schools. (A few years ago they actually had another city basically steal away 8 of their schools, with the support of the union, the parents, everyone!)

The schools they are closing are beautiful, they are old architecture and who know what will happen to the buildings. Which is a shame.

My amazing new wife has gone above and beyond for my birthday. You would have thought I got the greatest present ever by receiving her hand in Marriage last week... (it was, the wedding was truly the greatest gift for us ever) ... but beyond that Cate went out and got me a brand new Olympus E520 Digital Camera. It's one of the fancy ones. At least as far as I am concerned!!!!

I find it very ironic that so many idiotic announcers on TV have no idea what irony/ironic means or how to use it properly. (Of course they are not alone, a majority of people share that affliction).

While I was just watching a game the announcer says, completely out of the blue, "Ironically Aldrich is from Bloomington, MN which is right down the road from here in Minneapolis." What the fuck is ironic about that?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tough-guy actor and martial arts expert Chuck Norris sued publisher Penguin on Friday over a book he claims unfairly exploits his famous name, based on a satirical Internet list of "mythical facts" about him.

Penguin published "The Truth About Chuck Norris: 400 facts about the World's Greatest Human" in November. Author Ian Spector and two Web sites he runs to promote the book, including www.truthaboutchuck.com, are also named in the suit.

The book capitalizes on "mythical facts" that have been circulating on the Internet since 2005 that poke fun at Norris' tough-guy image and super-human abilities, the suit said.

It includes such humorous "facts" as "Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried" and "Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits," the suit said, as well as "Chuck Norris can charge a cell phone by rubbing it against his beard."

"Some of the 'facts' in the book are racist, lewd or portray Mr. Norris as engaged in illegal activities," the lawsuit alleges.

Norris, who rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s as the star of such films as "The Delta Force" and "Missing in Action," says the book's title would mislead readers into thinking the facts were true.

"Defendants have misappropriated and exploited Mr. Norris's name and likeness without authorization for their own commercial profit," said the lawsuit.

The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court, seeks unspecified monetary damages for trademark infringement, unjust enrichment and privacy rights.

Norris, whose real name is Carlos Ray Norris, claims in the suit he is protective of what his name is associated with. He has recently made U.S. headlines for backing Republican presidential candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

A spokesman for Penguin, owned by Britain's Pearson, was not immediately available for comment.

As I was perusing Time.com today I saw this little gem:

It seemed to be a nice little quote, certainly has a good amount of truth to it, and the fact that it ends with "Straight Up" makes it all the better, which was what initially caught my eye. Then I looked at the author of this marvelous quote and it's none other than Lil' Wayne, so now it's suddenly become words to live my life by. Then to top it off, I see the picture of Lil Wayne they have accompanying these words which I now am living my life by and I am convinced I not only have made the correct decision but must also try to live my life exactly like Lil Wayne!

Now you may say I have completely missed out on the message that the prophet known as Lil Wayne is trying to pass along, to this I say what Lil Wayne said in AK-47: "I'm Too Fly, I Can't Stay Up In My Bat Cave. Hello, Say Goodbye When The Gat Wave. Hold On To Your Surf Board When The Gat Wave. Homie, You Can Be Deleted Like Backspace."

(I have never actually hear a song by Lil Wayne, I have no idea if he is any good or not. I am pretty sure that Cate's kids listen to him and think he's the shit. I feel so old. For those of you with eye issues, a larger picture. It's the simple things in life that keep me happy!!

Christmas season is upon us, Cate is attempting to create a paper-plate angel right now (while we watch The First 48, nothing says Christmas like some real life murder investigations). Later on we are going to get out all the decorations and figure out what we want to put up. Our first Christmas together, with many more to come. The trick is not trying to have pre-memories, having to expectations that cant be met, getting ahead of reality. We are people who do our best when we live day by day, enjoy the simple things life has to give us. Holidays are no different, keep them simple and fun and that is how the turn out, fun. Try to make it a production, it turns into an event with no meaning. And the whole point of a holiday is the meaning that it provides. This christmas will have meaning on many different levels, and we will celebrate it with those in mind.

I hope you all have great holidays, enjoy them however you can.
